At this time, we are going to interrupt our series on Responsible Village Government, so that we can publish an important article on the loss of our Jubilee Food Store. The article is based on our knowledge of the situation, as well as prior discussions with the former proprietor of the store, Roger Mohn.
Out of necessity, the article is a little longer than some others, as it goes back and retraces the history of the store, and what led up to its final closure last December.
This article leads to an important question: Does “pro-business” always mean that every business should receive everything it asks for? Or does “pro-business” sometimes mean that a Village Government looks at the bigger picture, and makes a decision that benefits all of its businesses collectively?
